Chapter 13/14: Solids and Liquids/Solutions
You only have to think about water to appreciate how different the three states of matter are. We swim in liquid water and skate on solid ice. To allow these various activities, the arrangements of the water molecules must be significantly different in their gas, liquid and solid form. In Chapter 12, we saw that the particles of a gas are far apart, in rapid motion, and have little effect on each other. In this chapter, you will explore the characteristics of liquids and solids, as well as the manner in which they differ from gases.
